Easy customization
![]()
Change the appearance and features of the theme without editing a single line of code thanks to the WordPress Theme Toolkit. Go to Presentation > Configure 1 Blog Theme within the admin area and choose from the various customization options.
Layout and design

- Choose a color (hue and intensity) through a graphical picker for links and header/footer.
- Choose a header/footer tone: Light or dark.
- Choose a background: White or light gray.
- Choose a body alignment: Center or left.
- Choose a body width (fixed or percentage).
- Choose a sidebar alignment: Left or right.
- Choose a sidebar width (fixed or percentage).
- Choose a sidebar left column width (fixed or percentage).
- Choose a pages menu type: horizontal on the header or regular on the sidebar.
- Choose a header image: Include an image in the header (instead of the text title) by specifying the url, width and height.
Post content
Choose whether to display full text, or first X words (or excerpt if available) or first X paragraphs on the homepage and/or archive pages (categories, dates, tags...).
Widgets
![]()
1 Blog Theme is compatible with WordPress Widgets (plugin or built-in feature since WordPress 2.2). Move/include widgets between the 3 parts of the sidebar and the 3 columns of the footer. Widgets included with the theme:

- Archives
- Bloggers
- Calendar
- Categories
- Control panel (if you are registered and logged-in)
- Favorite sites
- Latest comments
- Latest posts
- Log-in (if users can register)
- Most commented posts
- Search
- Subscribe (RSS)
- Tags
- Theme switcher (if Theme Switcher is installed)
Tags

1 Blog Theme is compatible with Simple Tagging Plugin, Ultimate Tag Warrior and WordPress 2.3+ tagging system. If any of those plugins is installed and active or you have WordPress 2.3+, the theme displays the appropriate tags for every post returned and a list with the most used tags. It also displays tag feed links (something the plugin lacks).
If Simple Tagging is active, 1 Blog Theme will add an interesting functionality. You can tag posts using this special marking: [tag ]tag1[/tag] (this won't remove the text «tag1» from the text like [tags ][/tags] does). You can also add a tag and include automatically a link to that tag page with other marking: [taglink ]tag2[/taglink] (this will tag the post as «tag2» and will link that text to the tag url).
In WordPress 2.3 the theme also supports this kind of tagging, making [tag ][/tag], [tags ][/tags] and [taglink ][/taglink] have the behaviour described above.

The theme displays related posts in single post view, based on tags (with WordPress 2.3+ or Simple Tagging Plugin/Ultimate Tag Warrior active) or categories.
Social buttons

1 Blog Theme displays subscription and social bookmarking buttons in a one-click expandable list, similar to the way the Share This plugin does, with a few improvements:
- Completely integrated with the theme design.
- If JavaScript is not enabled, the list is displayed expanded. No link pages that may harm your search engine positioning
- Choose amongst these subscription options: Bloglines, Feedster, Google Reader, Live, MyAOL, MyYahoo, Netvibes, Newsgator, Rojo.
- Choose amongst these social bookmarking options: Barrapunto, BlinkList, BlogMemes, CoRank, CoRank Español, Delicious, Digg, Enchílame, Fark, Fresqui Actualidad, Fresqui Ocio, Fresqui Tecnología, Furl, Google Bookmarks, Live Favorites, Magnolia, Menéame, Neodiario, Netscape, Newsvine, Reddit, Rojo, Slashdot, Spurl, Stumbleupon, Technorati Favorites, Yahoo MyWeb.
Email subscription form

Along with the RSS subscription buttons you have the option to include a link that will display automatically (via javascript) an email subscription form, so your visitors will have the choice of receiving your posts by email. This form is powered by FeedBurner or FeedBlitz and you'll need an ID for one of them.
Post submission form

Every post includes an «Email this post» link that displays (again via JavaScript) a form that will allow your visitors to suggest quickly and easily that page to their friends.
Automatic and integrated contact form

Simply create a page (Write > Write Page) titled «Contact» or whatever translation/phrasing you are using in the theme-translation.php file. 1 Blog Theme will display automatically a contact form at the end of that post that will send an email to the page author. The form is spam-protected by Akismet (if the plugin is active with a valid key).
Anti spam filter
Comments and contact forms include an invisible filter that will reject most of the automated spam with no interaction required from you or your visitors. This filter uses an expirable timestamp and a hash and doens't involve any http connection or database query, so this kind of spam won't affect your server load.
Feed options
- Choose whether to enable or disable feeds by content: Posts, comments, comments for each post, categories, tags or bloggers. If you disable them, not only feed links won't appear along the blog, but also they will return a 404 error so you'll make sure that they are completely inaccessible.
- Choose whether to enable or disable feeds by type: RSS 2.0, RSS, Atom or RDF.
- Choose alternate feed urls for posts and comments. If you enter a FeedBurner url, the feeds will be automatically redirected to FeedBurner when accessed through the usual feed urls (except for the FeedBurner user-agent, of course).
- Options to add related posts, categories, tags, social bookmarkers and/or attribution links to the feed content.
For instance, if you disable all feeds except for posts and comments, and you specify a FeedBurner url for both, you will ensure that all your subscribers are accessing only your FeedBurner feeds.
Search Engine Optimization features
- Improved title and meta tags using all the information available: post title before blog name, post excerpt as description, tags or categories as keywords...
- Choose whether to add a «noindex, nofollow» robots meta tag on archive pages (categories, searches, tags...) in order to avoid duplications that may harm your search engine positioning.
Comments pagination
This is vital if you receive lots (thousands) of comments:
- Enable comments pagination by specifying your desired number of comments per page.
- Choose comments order: newer first or older first.
- If order is set to «newer first», choose whether to fill the post page (first comments page) with the maximum number of comments (this will make comment permalinks vary over time).
Based on Paged Comments.
Numbered pagination
![]()
No more useless Next/Previous navigation.
Separated comments and trackbacks

Comments and trackbacks are separated and treated distinctly not only in single post view but all along the blog.
Comment notification

Let your visitors receive the comments to a given post via email. You can turn off this feature from the configuration page.
One-click comment moderation

This feature will save you most time. Always you are logged-in as administrator, comment moderation links (edit, approve/unapprove, delete, spam) will display for each comment, allowing one-click management. Unapproved (pending) comments, as long as commenter email and IP, will also show up for you to help on this matter.
Easy translation
Easily translate (or change the phrasing of) the theme into any language by editing the theme-translation.php file. No need for mo/po files, the theme will be completely translated even for texts most themes won't take care of (i.e. title attributes).
Ad system
Include ads (or any other type of content) in the theme by copying any given code into any of the files within the ads/ directory, depending on where you want them to show up (file names are self-explanatory on this matter, i.e. after-header-title.php, before-sidebar-left.php...). Just take into account that most ad blocks will appear just once, except for the following. After-post*.php and before-post*.php files will repeat for every post returned (just one in single post or page view, usually more in index, archives, categories...). After-post-paragraph.php and before-post-paragraph.php will repeat before/after every paragraph (<p>, <ul>, <ol> and <blockquote> tags) for each post returned. After-comment*.php and before-comment*.php will repeat for every comment returned (just in single post or page view).
Before-body-close-tag.php, after-body-open-tag.php and before-head-close-tag.php files are useful for including the JavaScript code required by some services (web stats, tracking, etc).
You can add elements to the horizontal menu with the after-menu.php and before-menu.php files. Just remember to include them as list items (<li></li>).
You can use PHP and WordPress built-in functions and variables so you can target your ads to any specific type of placement. Check the ads/ad-targeting.txt file for some samples, including how to place an ad on the first two posts, on the last one, after the first paragraph of each post...
You can add additional styles at the beginning or the end of the external CSS file thanks to the before-css.php and after-css.php files. Being an external file, WordPress functions won't be available for these files (though the theme functions used in style.php will be). Analogously you can add additional code to the external JavaScript file thanks to the before-js.php and after-js.php files (again, WordPress functions won't be available for these files).
Additional features
- Editable about.php file to display any information about you on the home page.
- Comments from the author of the post are automatically highlighted.
- Specify your desired max width for thumbnails when uploading images.
- Size attributes (width and height) automatically added for images when those are not set (improved page load).
- Margins added for images aligned left or right (through CSS on normal pages and through tables on feeds).
- Improved slugs with no rare characters.
- Fixed WordPress rare behaviour with quotes.
- <code> tag formatting.
- Printer-friendly pages.
- Integrated gravatars.
- Optimized for Google AdSense (section targeting).

Wow - what great features. Thanks, I'll give it a try on one of my sites.
#2. John, 1 year and 8 months ago
Hello
I like the theme and all it does, but there is a slight problem with quotes and blockquotes, as I hope appears below:-
“I deeply distrust the professional optimists - the banks, estate agents, government ministers - who seem to believe in an economic version of levitation,» Mr Cable told delegates.
“This is something Gordon Brown understood ten years ago when he said in his first Budget: ’I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of recovery.’
You get these funny symbols and if you accidentally do a double space, you get an upper case A with an accent on top.
Hope this comes out so you can see what I mean and hope there is a cure. Have had to disable theme until this can be sorted out.
Many thanks and best wishes.
John

Hello John,
Please, could you provide the url where this happens?
#4. Sharon, 1 year and 8 months ago
Hi Javier, I really like this theme - you've put so many features I want in it. Check it out here: http://doublehdesign.com/blog/. I'm still tweaking, but I think I'll keep this for a while.
#5. Kevin, 1 year and 8 months ago
Thanks for the great theme.
I am not too familiar with where to insert Google Analytics code for this theme. It must come immediately before the head tag, please tell me where in the theme I should place this w/o causing errors.
Thanks again.
#6. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
Sharon,
I'm seeing quotes and blockquotes just fine. Could it be that you copy-pasted some text in another charset?
Kevin,
You should place your adsense code in the files under the /ads/ directory (the file(s) depends on where you want the ad to display). Read the txt file in that directory.
#7. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
Sorry Kevin, I thought you said AdSense, not Analytics. Analytics code should be placed in the before-head-close-tag.php file.
#8. Kevin, 1 year and 8 months ago
Thanks for your help, but I am still getting parse errors - in the footer, where exactly do I place the Analytics code?
Thanks.
#9. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
Plain HTML doesn't get «parse errors». Analytics code is just HTML code that calls a JavaScript. Simply paste that code into the ads/before-head-close-tag.php file.

Hi, fist of all, very nice theme. One of the best I've seen so far.
I have an issue to set up the max width. When I set it to 960px max, 300px and 160px for sidebars, it just does not work, it keeps showing the same size, no matter if I set 900 or 980. I did not touch one line of code, it's as good as out of the box.
#11. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
Hello,
I just tested those values and they work OK. Check that you are entering the correct infomation, if a value is invalid (i.e. not a number when a number is asked) the theme displays the default value instead.
#12. Tapeleg, 1 year and 8 months ago
This theme looks like what I have been waiting for. I've been holding off on upgrading wordpress for some time now (still using 2.0.5), since newer versions don't appear to be compatible with the theme I am using. I love the three column layout, and this one seems perfect for me.
I was wondering if it is possible to define the link and header/footer colors in hex? With the configuration options you have, is it possible to go into the theme editor and change the pages manually?
Thanks for any feedback. This is a really nice looking theme.
#13. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
> I was wondering if it is possible to define the link and header/footer colors in hex?
You can edit the style.php CSS file manually if you need a given exact color, though you can choose anyone through the graphical picker.
#14. Tapeleg, 1 year and 8 months ago
Thanks, I'll have to figure out how. php isn't my strong suit.
#15. charlie, 1 year and 8 months ago
Hi mate
Love the theme , just what I need. I am only a beginer at this blog stuff and have done a site for the local village but I dont need the panel «related posts » or «share this post» or any of the links in there, can I remove them so that it makes a cleaner join between the post and the «write a comment» panel. While I am at it I dont need the «no trackbacks» panel either so can I remove that as well. Please can you make it simple as I am not in to php and stuff.
Thanks
#16. Javier García, 1 year and 8 months ago
Hello charlie,
Related posts code is in post-related.php file. You can simply empty that file. Sharing buttons are in post-share.php, though there is required code at the first. You can delete simply the lines that make an «echo».

I was trying to use this theme on my site, Tech In Demand. Unfortunately, when I try to post a comment, it does not work. It will load the «wp-comments-post.php» file, but the page will be blank with white.
Not sure why this is happening.
#18. James Mowery, 1 year and 7 months ago
Actually, I fixed the problem by simply disabling a plugin. I believe it was the Edit comments plugin.
However, there is a new problem.
Gravatars are not working on the site. I highly doubt that is a plugin issue as well.
#19. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
I read your last comment late. I checked your comment form and it works fine. Also I see the gravatars, mine appears, as long as other users'. Check for instance: http://www.techindemand.com/2007/11/05/darpa-smart-cars-of-the-future-right-now/#comments
When the gravatar doesn't exist it displays an image with a question mark.

It is a great theme, it appears all was working fine. Unfortunately, I too am not up to speed with PHP. I am always experimenting with themes and such. I just fear that I would easily break the theme, and with many themes, they are an easy fix. With this theme, it would be a very difficult task to track down what is wrong.
I will probably stick with my current theme until I read up on PHP, and then read through your theme and make sure I understand how everything is working.
There are some great elements I wish I could have from your theme: the ability to manage comments without going to the admin page, the dropdown RSS feeds, the seperated comments/trackbacks, the advertising sections, and much more.
This theme definitely ranks up in the top 10 themes I have ever seen. It also ranks up probably in #1 in difficulty
I'm curious Javier, how long did it take you to create this theme? It looks like it was a fairly ambitious project to take on.
#21. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
> I just fear that I would easily break the theme, and with many themes, they are an easy fix. With this theme, it would be a very difficult task to track down what is wrong.
Of course the coding is complex due to the many features included. But you can change the style just with CSS, place any content in any part of the layout with the /ads/ files and of course configure all through the admin page. So it's really not required touching the PHP files at all.
> how long did it take you to create this theme?
I could't tell, many months working on the theme from time to time...
#22. Riccardo, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hi, visitors can't post comments in my blog whit this theme.
The site return: «The comment could include spam and hasn't been saved»
How can i disable the integrate anti-spam system?
Thanks
#23. Riccardo, 1 year and 7 months ago
Ok, i have solved the antispam error simple edit the theme-antispam.php file.
#24. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hello,
Yes, you only need to empty the theme-antispam.php file, though it shouldn't return that error unless it is an automated comment post...
I've just emailed you, please, check the inbox.
Regards

This is bloody brilliant. There's a lot of functionality in the theme, and I'm truly impressed. Thank you.
#26. Riccardo, 1 year and 7 months ago
Thanks for the reply, Javier. I have replied to your email. I have another error whit comments. If you look at the footer, «Most Commented Posts» (using an external plugin - WP-MostCommented) shows the real number of comments for articles, but in the Articles page, this number is different.
Sorry my english,
Riccardo
#27. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hello again,
If you use a plugin then the theme doesn't control what it returns. You should use the most commented posts widget included in the theme...
#28. Riccardo, 1 year and 7 months ago
the most commented posts widget included in the theme, display the incorrect value of comment (as the comments show in the articles). The external plugin show the real number of comments. The problem is in the include widget.
For example if you see the article «Immagine d'angolo per no-tc» (look at the footer widget) the number of comments is 23 (and it's the right number) , but i see only 2 comments.
Sorry if i can't explain my problem very well.
#29. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
How come 23 is the right number of comments if you only see 2??
#30. Riccardo, 1 year and 7 months ago
I replied to your email.

Hi javier, i have a presentation site for the people that have some house in brasil.
It isn't for me a commercial site, but it's a commercial site for this person.
Can i use your theme or isn't possible with this license?
The theme is very good!

Greetings,
I have two issues. Sometimes when a person comments the name is defaulted to the last person who commented. I have had several people who commented but later realized that the name was not theirs.
The second deals with using quotes. When someone writes a comment or when i write a post if I use double quotes (» «) they display as <>. I have not figured out how to repair either of these problems.
Thanks,
BD
#33. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
> Sometimes when a person comments the name is defaulted to the last person who commented.
That bug was already fixed. Simply re-download the theme and replace the files.
> when i write a post if I use double quotes (» «) they display as <>
I see the quotes just fine on your blog, for instance:
«Let's not forget that the Republicans are...»
They are double angle quotes (also known as french quotes), they are widely used in print as they are more readable than plain quotes.
#34. Big Dog, 1 year and 7 months ago
Thanks,
Is there one particular file that was changed? I made a few modifications and do not want to lose them.
gracias!

#35. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
You can replace comments.php and that should do the trick.
#36. Andri Setiawan, 1 year and 7 months ago
waw ... great theme, definetely I'll try to use it ! thanks man !
#37. david, 1 year and 7 months ago
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING -- this is probably the most incredible theme that I have ever seen or used -- THANK YOU for creating it and letting us use it!
#38. Anil, 1 year and 7 months ago
Javier
This is THE theme I've always wanted and could never find. The abundant features, well thought out layout and design, the ability to tweak it and then tweak it some more, and above all your very prompt assistance make it a number ONE. Tops!
#39. Anil, 1 year and 7 months ago
The time stamp on posts as in «7 months and 13 days ago» is a nice feature, but can I have the traditional style «date of post» show up as well? How can I do this?
#40. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Simply replace «obt_time_ago» by «date».
#41. Richard, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hi There,
Just wanted to say that this is a wonderful theme. However I do have a couple questions.
1. When viewing my site in IE the header image does not load, it works fine in Fire Fox.
2. For some reason my adsense code does not appear when I put it into the various «ad» files.
Can you please help?
http://www.greatreeftanks.com
#42. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
1. You need to specify image width and height. Firefox works with those attributes being blank. Explorer not.
2. Ad files are simply includes, if you paste any code into an ad file it will be included. It works fine, for instance in this site (and many others).
#43. Richard, 1 year and 7 months ago
I also receive this message in the «Share this Post» section.
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/greatreeftanks.com/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/1blogtheme1.2/post-share.php on line 48
I added the image width and height and now my page menus in the header are off the page in IE.
Thanks for you help...
RIch
#44. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
The theme is thought to include a little logo, if you are using a header you should choose the regular menu instead of the horizontal menu in the header, ther's simply not space for both.
About the error, try redownloading the theme and replacing the post-share.php file.

Javier
I am running WP on a hosted domain and I would like to create another WP blog in another directory on my domain which would have all the Theme settings exactly as the one I am running right now. Withou having to tweak the Theme script pages all over again, can I create the new blog and just copy the entire wp-content/themes/1blogtheme1.2. and subdirectories to the new location?
#46. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Theme setting are saved in the database, so you'll need to configure it for each blog.
#47. rcravy, 1 year and 7 months ago
For some reason, when I switch to the 1blogtheme 1.2, nothing of the theme shows. I will leave my site set to this theme for a few hours in hopes that you will visit it and suggest what is going wrong. We hope to switch to your theme if we can resolve this problem.
#48. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
This line (not added by the theme) breaks the HTML:
[link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="WP E-Commerce Product List RSS" href="http://effectivebiblestudy.com/index.php?rss=true&action=product_list&type=rss'/]Note the ending quote should be a double quote. The next line is the CSS of the theme, hence it doesn't display.
#49. rcravy, 1 year and 7 months ago
Many thanks. We'll go to work finding the problem. Seems to be in my WP-Commerce plug-in. Deactivate it and the theme works!
#50. Richard, 1 year and 7 months ago
I've fixed my header, thank you. But even after re-downloading the theme files and replacing the post-share.php file, I still have this message appearing.
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/greatreeftanks.com/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/1blogtheme1.2/post-share.php on line 48
I'm wondering if it because I haven't upgraded wordpress.

Thanks Javier. I d/l'd the them files again and replaced the file. THis time it has worked!
Thanks for you help.

I notice a small «glitch» [for lack of a better word] - while viewing a single post, the comments form shows the name of the person who posted the last comment/message in the «Name» field of the form. Is this because of something strange that I did to the various setups or is this a universal issue? How do I correct it?
Also, is there a way to keep the comments form «hidden» with just a Link saying something like «Add your comment/reply» which would then make the comment form open up below the last comment posted?
Thanks!
#54. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
> while viewing a single post, the comments form shows the name of the person who posted the last comment/message in the «Name» field of the form
Read above. Comment #33
> is there a way to keep the comments form «hidden» with just a Link saying something like «Add your comment/reply» which would then make the comment form open up below the last comment posted?
Of course there is a way, by modifying the HTML returned and adding some javascript, but sincerely I don't see the point to that (it's confusing and requires an extra click) and of course I'm not providing personal support.
#55. Anil, 1 year and 7 months ago
I had read #33. I did download the latest version of your theme and this problem persists - that the last person's name who commented or left a message is the default name in the Name field.
I seem to recall that this happens with other themes too, so it is not probably a bug in your theme but something else altogether.....?
#56. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
If the problem persists you haven't replaced correctly the file comments.php. Make sure you replace it with the latest version.
#57. Arkenor, 1 year and 7 months ago
This is a great theme, and I'm going to give it a try on my own site.
It's going to take quite a bit of customisation though. Have you given any thought to making some more aspects of the themes appearance customisable through the admin panel? Being able to change the fonts would be quite handy.
I'll see what I can chance on my own without breaking things horribly!
#58. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
That kind of things can be done with a simple line of CSS, it's not really worth customizable options.
#59. Arkenor, 1 year and 7 months ago
I noticed that the theme disables the standard links widget.
Would it be possible for the Favourite sites widget that replaces it to have the same functionality of splitting things by blogroll category? Having all my blogroll links all mixed together instead of in categories could make it harder for readers to find what they want.
#60. Arkenor, 1 year and 7 months ago
I'm sorry to be a pest.
I found that for some reason, this theme does not work with this popular image plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shutter-reloaded/
If I change theme it works fine. Is there anything I can do to fix that?
#61. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Arkenor,
You can enable the Links widget by commenting out this line of theme-widgets.php file (line 489):
unregister_sidebar_widget("Links");About the plugin, read this: http://1blogtheme.com/2007/10/1-blog-theme-1-2-1.html#comment-110
#62. Arkenor, 1 year and 7 months ago
Worked like a charm! Thanks. You're a star!
#63. Anil, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hi Javier
When using the «Email this post» function, I get the following error lines:
Warning: cannot yet handle MBCS in html_entity_decode()! in /.../.../XXXXX-www/.../.../wp-content/themes/1blogtheme1.2/theme-functions.php on line 199
Any idea what I could have done to get this error and what I must to do correct it?
Thanks!
#64. Anil, 1 year and 7 months ago
Got the fix.
Added a «@» in front of «html_entity_decode»
#65. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago

How would I go about changing the quote marks from the French style that looks like<<, to the British style?
I wouldn't mind at all, except that Technorati currently decides that any of my posts that include quote marks are in French, which they are not, meaning that most English speakers won't see them when they search there.
#67. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
You can find the obt_texturize function in the theme-functions.php. You can change it (french quotes are laquo and raquo in html entities) or delete the remove_filter/add_filter calls after the function (though this functions works better than the WordPress default).
In any case I doubt Technorati considers a post in French just for the quotes.

Javier
How to eliminate the «ruled lines» ? I mean the lines that - for example - are in the bottom of this page in the footer.
Thanks!
#69. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
All the lists outside the post content have borders, you can change the CSS (ul and li elements).

I've written my former comment in spanish because I thought you r first language is spanish. But if you feel more familiar with english, I would translate my first question.
With regard to my second question, I've just noticed this was answered in comment number 40. Anyway, after replacing «obt_time_ago» by «date» in templates, I get dates in english format, instead of the spanish ones (for example, 2007-11-20, instead of 20-11-2007). And this happens even if I choose a spanish date format in WordPress backend (Options > General). Any idea?
#71. Javier García, 1 year and 7 months ago
Hello Eduardo,
This is an English blog, for the Spanish version you can visit http://es.1blogtheme.com/
1. There's no inconvenience in using this theme in whatever the site always the license is met and the attribution links are kept intact.
2. You probably need to translate your WordPress or format the date (http://codex.wordpress.org/Formatting_Date_and_Time).

Thanks for the fantastic theme, Javier! The feature set is nothing short of amazing and I've been running through it on a test region with a number of plugins I'm currently using on my live site. So far everything looks great.
Because its not your typical theme, I'm sure a lot of folks have questions so here's mine. I'm trying to integrate some comment related plugins and was hoping you could point out where your «comment loop» begins and ends.
And as far as suggestions, here's mine. I think it would help to have a table that maps typical functionality and files found in a WordPress theme to yours. Examples include my comments loop question and the style.css that's actually empty because the theme is handling things in style.php. This would aid bloggers not only looking to make styling related changes but those trying to integrate plugins that require adding new snippets of code.
Again, thanks for the incredible work!

Am I missing something? Can it be xHTML 4.01 transitional? The xHTML standard is only as far as version 1.1...
#74. Paul, 1 year and 6 months ago
Javier, Great theme! I like the functionality of it and it really like the look. I have one comment regarding the related posts.
When using the post-related.php it did not seem to be pulling up posts that were related by tags. (I am using simple tags plugin). I modified the post-related.php as follows:
$obt_related_posts = obt_related_posts($obt_now);
To read:
$obt_related_posts = st_related_posts($obt_now);
which has taken care of the problem. Is there anything else I should be concerned with?
Thanks,
Paul
#75. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
The problem is that st_related_posts don't return the posts as obt_related_posts do. The thing is that you are using WordPress 2.3 with SimpleTags and the plugin gives preference to the integrated tag system, you should import the ST tags into WordPress, you are making unnecessary MySQL queries and the new tag system exists for a reason.

Hi Javier,
i have some trouble whit your theme and Internet Explorer. In firefox theme display correct, but in IE the right sidebar is «only» show if you mouse over a link of the left sidebar. I haven't touch css file and test it whit and whitout my plugins usage. Any ideas?

Hiya Javier! Been using this theme a while now.
I noticed that this theme has some built in metatag features, using the tags of a post to the meta name=»keywords».
It puts the tags in first, then follows with the categories. This is fine for individual post pages, but I find for my front page, as only a finite number of keywords appears, the tags push the categories out. Do you think, in that case, that perhaps it might be better to have the categories appear first in the keywords, rather than after the tags, as they tend to have longer term relevence?
#80. Bruno, 1 year and 6 months ago
Hi, I'm using this theme in a MU installation and it works fine, but the «Related Posts» shows not-so-related ones... Generally, it shows just one or two posts from a totally different category or tag.
I changed the code to make it display only category related posts but the problem remains. Any suggestions?
Thanks
#81. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
Have you made any modification or are you using any plugin that could be messing with tags and categories?
#82. Bruno, 1 year and 6 months ago
No modification on any tag/category related stuff. It's just a regular install of MU.
#83. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
As far as I've seen the related posts work OK in any installation, but I'll look into it.

Followup on comment #33 above
> Sometimes when a person comments the name is defaulted to the last person who commented.
That bug was already fixed. Simply re-download the theme and replace the files.
If I re-download the theme and replace all files, it would also overwrite some other changes I made. I cant remember what files I changed! So, could you tell me WHICH of the files within your Theme affect this issue of the commentor. I could then just upload that/those files....
Thanks!
#85. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
The file is comments.php.
#86. Anil, 1 year and 6 months ago
Javier
I downloaded the newest version of your theme, uploaded comments.php tp both my blogs. The comment issue got resolved on one blog but did not get fixed on the other. Any ideas why this could be happening? I also forgot which file I changed for the correction of the time stamp as per comment # 40 above. Pls help.
Thanks!
#87. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
Make sure you replaced the file correctly. Also, you probably changed post.php for the timestamp.

Thanks for the great theme!
By the way, how do I make the meta-tags (description and keywords) static?
#90. Mirko Sassetti, 1 year and 6 months ago
This is a great theme!!!
I only have a problem with color selection: when i try, by example, to select the hex color #E98C00, i see my color in the selector, but when i go to see it on the site, it appear to be a «more green» variation.
Can be a problem or what?
Thanks.
#91. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
Again, you can't choose and hexadecimal color, as the theme uses different bright values along the design. You need to choose color (hue) AND saturation for your desired combination. For instance, E98C00 has a hue of 26 and a saturation of 255.

I've been developing themes for a while now, but after checking out your theme, I'm pretty damn amazed. It's easily the most functional and advanced theme I»ve ever worked with. Just wanted to send out a big thanks for all the hard work that you through into it.

Where do I go to ad my adsense code....? Where do I click to get to the /ads/ directory?
«You should place your adsense code in the files under the /ads/ directory (the file(s) depends on where you want the ad to display). Read the txt file in that directory.»
#94. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
The /ads/ directory is a directory of files included in the theme (in the zip file).
#95. Jason Finch, 1 year and 6 months ago
I guess I am confused how to access the ads/directory? Do I access the /ads/directory file in my word press theme or do I ad the the adsense code on my server?
Confused here... walk me through it please.
thanks
#96. Javier García, 1 year and 6 months ago
All the files included in the theme are simple text files. In the zip file you will find an /ads/ directory with text files (*.php). Simply edit those files with any text editor (notepad, etc.) in YOUR PC. Then upload them to your server. Optionally you can edit them directly from your server (via FTP, your hosting control panel, etc.).
#97. imcw, 1 year and 5 months ago
Does your theme have 'do follow' function? I tried so many do follow plugin and it's not work on this theme.
#98. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
Thouse kind of plugins should work without problem, in fact I'm aware of people using them.
#99. imcw, 1 year and 5 months ago
Thanks. I hope the next version of this theme will include 'do follow' option.
Honestly, I'm so satisfied with this theme, so many features that reduce my plugins list.
#100. Ministermark, 1 year and 5 months ago
@ #99 imcw You can easily change rel=»nofollow» to rel=»follow» on lines 60 & 146 of comments.php
What a great and easily customizable theme!
Thanks again
#101. Dhan, 1 year and 5 months ago
Great theme, I think I' m gonna use it for at least a year as my blog's theme.
One problem I found so far is that it replaces the created by «All In One SEO Pack» plugin.
So it doesn't display custom keywords I typed in editing post section via a form supplied by the plugin through the admin control panel.
Any hint to disable SEO functions of the theme so the plugin can be fully functional again? Or maybe there's a more fexible way to customize the keywords entries without messing with core theme files.
Thanks a bunch for making this great theme for us.
#102. Dhan, 1 year and 5 months ago
Sorry, I meant «... replaces the entries created by ....» please edit my previous comment before you approve it.
Thanks again
#103. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
Dhan, you can tweak the obt_clean_meta function in the theme-functions.php file, so it doesn't remove custom keywords meta tag (don't forget to remove then that meta tag in the header.php file.
#104. Dhan, 1 year and 5 months ago
Sweet.
After confused a bit, I finally see the light.
Btw. What is the meta name=blogcatalog ... for?
#105. Anil, 1 year and 5 months ago
Unrelated «related» posts being shown on first/home page.
I just noticed, that on the opening page, which I set to show only the latest post, has completely unrelated posts being shown as RELATED. This problem is not there when I open a specific post - but this problem is only on the home page.
Any clues?
#106. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
The code is the same for both pages (it's an include, not two different codes). In fact I see the same related posts in your front page and in the single post.
#107. Anil, 1 year and 5 months ago
Yes, I checked and you are correct. But, there is no relationship between the posts listed as 'related' to this particular post. Look at the
categories/tags for the post in question.
Also, the post that should show up as «related» is this one. But, neither of these two posts link up as "related". the other posts on my blog seem to be related correctly. Any thoughts?
#108. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
Yeah, others reported this bug. It seems some tag plugins or tag importers can mess up the tag IDS, making the mysql sentence not to work properly. I suggest that you test some «related posts» plugins. If you find anyone that works correctly, please, tell me, I'll look into the code. I can't test by myself as I don't have that problem in any of my databases.
#109. Anil, 1 year and 5 months ago
Is there a way to disable the «Related Posts» section on the Front/Home page but keep the option active in the Single post pages?
#110. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
The related posts are added via include, so you can simply add a conditional if (is_single()) to that line (in fact you need to edit an existing conditional).
#111. Shankar, 1 year and 5 months ago
Javier, this is great theme...full of many useful features! It can help any blog. Thanks very much for sharing this with everyone.
#112. Anil, 1 year and 5 months ago
Javier
Thanks. But I dont know exactly where to insert the «if (is_single())» and what other code to add there to make related posts only show up in the single post page. Appreciate please assist with this as I am not quite that savy at coding.
#113. Javier García, 1 year and 5 months ago
Line 31 of index.php:
IF (!$obt_comments_paginated && !is_page()) include(TEMPLATEPATH."/post-related.php");You can make these changes:
IF (!$obt_comments_paginated && is_single)) include(TEMPLATEPATH."/post-related.php");Though, sorry, this is the last question on this fashion that I answer. This blog is devoted to suggesting features, finding bugs, etc. not to providing personal support. When you are requesting some specific code you are actually asking for private custom programming. No problem pointing to something regarding how the theme works, but coding for an specific personal need is way out of the purpose.
#114. Anil, 1 year and 5 months ago
Thanks for the support. Much appreciated.
Shall not post further support request posts here.
#115. Ministermark, 1 year and 5 months ago
Greetings,
We are very interested in the built in print function but have noticed that it cuts off longer posts at the end of the first page... Is there a way to modify this?
Thanks for the awesome theme!

Try downloading the latest version of the theme and replacing style.php file.
#117. sagar trapasia, 1 year and 4 months ago
I would say this is the best theme i have ever seen..keep it up man,can anyone tell me mine theme is which version?is it the latest one?
#118. Andy, 1 year and 4 months ago
Hi Javier, I'm very happy with the theme and it suits our site perfectly, but a few things I'm having problems with.
I had problems with getting the body alignment/width/sidebars etc right (especially for viewing in IE6/7) but making it a set width was the best compromise I found.
My only real problem is with the font and font sizes. To change fonts/sizes etc - do we edit the style.php file? I've tried a few times and see no results but then suddenly, changes I've made are applied even though I've returned them back to normal.
I've been really carefully commenting the changes I make inside this file but to no avail - I end up just putting the original style.php file back again in frustration.
Can we add lines to the style.css file and will they override the php file settings? As you can tell I am a novice at css completely! If you can give me a few hints or even where to go to find out more I'd appreciate it.
Anyway, thank you for producing the theme, it suits a cms type of site perfectly!
#119. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
> I had problems with getting the body alignment/width/sidebars etc right (especially for viewing in IE6/7)
The theme is tested in major browsers, including IE6/7.
> Can we add lines to the style.css file and will they override the php file settings?
You should add additional styles in your ads/after-css.php file, so even with theme upgrades the changes will remain (and they are called after, so they overrule default CSS).
#120. Andy, 1 year and 4 months ago
Wow, quick reply thanks for that. I wasn't questioning the theme as far as IE6/7 goes, more that we all have the same problems when trying to get our sites to display properly on lower screen resolutions (ie 800x600 say) so a fixed width is all we can do to get it to display. Using a percentage body width looked fine in Firefox but not in IE, it (IE) screwed the sidebars up.
Ok, I'll have a go at editing the after-css file and see how I get on there. So, you're saying to leave the style.php file alone?
Are there any planned updates to the theme Javier? Would love some font/sizes options!
Many thanks again
#121. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
Yes, leave the style.php alone. There were several updates, and there will be more. Changing font/size is as easy as adding a CSS line, so it doesn't worth an option. It is worth only if it's more complex than that.
#122. Janet, 1 year and 4 months ago
Javier,
Can I remove the time from a post title?
Exceptional theme. Thanks.
#123. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
Yes, you'll find the code in post.php
#124. Janet, 1 year and 4 months ago
Yes, I was unable to figure this out...being a newbie...I either eliminated the whole: by, date, time, or made no change...sorry to be a bother
#125. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
You just need to remove the function returning the time (obt_time_ago).
#126. sagar trapasia, 1 year and 4 months ago
the theme is one of the best i have ever seen. But its quite huge thna normal theme(72 kb) while normal are around 35 kb.Wanted to ask whether the theme is seo friendly?
How to remove the about.php altogether that i see on top left(right in mine site-i changed it).also other widgets like authors in which anyone can get rss of post written by specific user, how to remove that from blog?
#127. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
The theme is SEO-friendly and has a lot of SEO features, please read the features list.
Regarding the feeds for authors, you can remove the authors block from the «Widgets» section in WP panel. Also you can remove only the feeds from the theme control panel. Again, please read the features, nothing I've just said isn't there.
#128. sagar trapasia, 1 year and 4 months ago
I want to put a code on sites's homepage in the first section of the page, before the first section.Where shall i find that? (this is google's webmaster tool-site verification meta tag for tracking a site). Also where shall i put analytics code ?
The files are complicated and i cant figure out much.pls help.
#129. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
You should add meta-tags, CSS calls, javascripts, etc. in the file ads/before-head-close-tag.php. There's no need to touch a line of the theme code, there are files specifically designed to do that. Please, read the features list.
#130. sagar trapasia, 1 year and 4 months ago
i cant find any file named ads.php or before-head-close-tag.php in the Theme editor?
#131. Javier García, 1 year and 4 months ago
That's because I said ads/before-head-close-tag.php, this is, the before-head-close-tag.php file within the /ads/ directory. I never mentioned an ads.php file (?). The theme editor doesn't read directories, so you simply need to edit the file and upload it to the server. It's a simple text file you can edit with any program (notepad, wordpad...).
In order to get the theme editor working you need to set write permissions to all your wp-content directory. This is very insecure. You shouldn't do that.
